Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
DataMintify is a product of Opticfolio Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use the DataMintify Shopify app or visit datamintify.com.
1. Who we are
Opticfolio Limited operates DataMintify. Our registered address is in England and Wales. You can contact us at support@datamintify.com for any privacy-related queries.
2. What data we collect
When you install DataMintify through the Shopify App Store, we receive and store:
- Your Shopify shop domain, store name, owner name, and contact email address.
- Shopify access tokens necessary to read and update your product catalog on your behalf.
- Product data from your store: titles, descriptions, barcodes, images, and metafields.
- Enrichment results: nutrition facts, ingredient lists, allergen data, and AI-generated descriptions.
- Billing and usage records: plan status, enrichment counts, and transaction history.
When you visit datamintify.com, we collect standard web analytics data (page views, referrer, device type) via Google Analytics 4. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
3. How we use your data
We use your data solely to provide and improve the DataMintify service:
- Looking up nutrition, ingredient, and allergen data from global food databases using your product barcodes.
- Updating your Shopify product descriptions, metafields, and translations on your instruction.
- Generating AI-powered product descriptions via OpenAI's API.
- Recording billing transactions and displaying your usage history.
- Responding to support requests.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties beyond the sub-processors listed in Section 5.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data under the following legal bases under UK GDPR and EU GDPR:
- Contract performance — processing necessary to deliver the DataMintify service you have subscribed to.
- Legitimate interests — operating, improving, and securing the service; fraud prevention.
- Legal obligation — retaining records as required by applicable law.
5. Sub-processors
We use the following third-party services to deliver DataMintify:
- Shopify — app platform, OAuth, and billing.
- Neon (PostgreSQL) — encrypted database hosting for store and enrichment data.
- OpenAI — AI-generated product descriptions and ingredient translation.
- Food database providers (FatSecret, Edamam, USDA, Open Food Facts, Barcode Lookup) — barcode and nutrition lookups. Your store information is never passed to these providers; only product barcodes are sent.
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymised website analytics on datamintify.com.
6. Data retention
We retain your store data for as long as your DataMintify subscription is active. When you uninstall the app, all store-specific data — including product data, descriptions, enrichment history, and billing records — is immediately and permanently deleted from our systems. The only data we retain after uninstall is anonymised enrichment data in our shared food database cache, which contains no store-identifying information.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (uninstalling the app triggers immediate deletion).
- Object to processing or request restriction of processing.
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@datamintify.com.
8. Security
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Each store's data is strictly isolated — no store can access another store's data. Shopify access tokens are stored securely and used only to perform actions you authorise within the app.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of DataMintify after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we will notify active merchants via email.
